Clients must see a therapist in the same province that they are physically located because this is in accordance with provincial regulations/jurisdictional requirements. There is one exception - Quebec clients will NOW be able to book with BC, AB and ON INTERN therapists ONLY. This doesn’t work for licensed therapists who are outside of QC. This is now possible because according to our research, as long as the interns are supervised by a licensed therapist from QC, which they are, the clients will be able to claim it with their QC insurance.
To further our knowledge in this matter...
For example, because Alexandra is a therapist licensed by of the Order of Psychologists of Quebec, she is only licensed to practice in Quebec. Seeing a client in another province would be as if she is practicing in a province where she is not licensed, which is a legal issue. Same for therapists licensed in other provinces.
It doesn’t matter where the client is originally from/what ID they have, it just matters that their current physical location is in the same province as the therapist they are booking with.
If the client is a new client not currently located in Canada, please transfer them to x255. I don’t think this is a common case.
If the client is a returning client going on a vacation then it would be up to them to discuss this with their therapist and for the therapist to inform the client of these rules.
